Frodsham WI 75th Birthday Meal

Frodsham WI 75th Birthday Meal

Just a few shots from our fabulous 75th birthday meal held at Frodsham Community Centre and catered for by Emily’s Feasts. Such a wonderful meal with great company, reflecting on the 75 year journey this local association has been on and looking forward to new adventures in the years to come.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

The Queen’s Green Canopy

We have planted a tree at Manley Copse as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, to celebrate the 70 year reign of Queen Elizabeth 2nd. Committee members were very pleased to have their photograph taken alongside the tree, and with the Queen!
This week we welcomed Caroline Ashton who officially unveiled the tree and a special plaque for us.

Picnic in the Park

Picnic in the Park

Frodsham WI were very pleased to support Frodsham Town Council at the Picnic in the Park celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee.
There were some lovely hats entered into the competition! The judges had some difficult decisions to make!
Well done to all the winners!

Manley Copse

Manley Copse

Following discussions with Frodsham Town Council in February 2021, Frodsham WI has become the Guardian of Manley Copse, initially for three years until 2024. This is a small area of land just off Manley Road in Frodsham. Frodsham Town Council will continue to pay for maintenance but WI members have been working hard to improve the layout to make it more accessible, and also more colourful. In summer 2021, a small pond was installed, which has attracted lots of additional insects, and a few frogs. Last autumn, the working group successfully applied for a grant from the Marshes Community Benefit Fund, and this money has been used to purchase new seating and a number of trees and plants.

Members of the local community have donated plants from their own gardens, and Frodsham Tree Solutions has given several tractor loads of bark clippings to help maintain the paths. In addition, a local family created a fairy dell, which has generated much interest.

The first Open Day was held in September 2021, and a second one is being planned for this September.

It has been gratifying to see the change on the site following the hard work put in by WI members, and many passers by have commented on this. Do have a look at the picture gallery, which helps chart the achievements and changes so far.

Please come up and have a look at what has been done – you don’t have to work! Just enjoy the lovely feel of this very special space.
