National Memorial Arboretum

National Memorial Arboretum

What a wonderful visit we had this week to this arboretum in Staffordshire. Jan organised the visit and the coach for us and we were able to offer spaces to other local groups. When we arrived we had a ride on the land train, which took us all around the arboretum and gave us an idea of the enormity of it. Then we had time to look around on our own and visit the memorials which meant something to us. The grounds were simply beautiful and the trees were starting to change colour.

A really lovely day, thank you Jan

October Meeting

October Meeting

Susan is one of our members who is very artistic. She told us the history of paper and showed us just how important paper is in all our lives. Susan had an amazing collection of items made from paper for us to look at!

We were all able to follow her instructions to make a box with a lid – just out of paper!

Thank you Susan for an interesting evening

New Pond!

New Pond!

We have a new pond at Manley Copse!

Unfortunately the old pond had developed a leak and as it had attracted so much wildlife into the area we felt that it should be upgraded!

A few members gathered to dig out a new hole and install the new pond. We had lots of fun sorting it all out, lots of measuring and reassurances!

Come and have a look!

Walking Group

Walking Group

The walking group had a lovely walk around Helsby this week. we walked along the hill and into Harmer’s Wood, then through the quarry. As all good walks should, we ended up at the tea shop!

A lovely walk and we didn’t get too wet!
