There’s no better time to try out Frodsham WI, as there’s a membership offer of just £10.75, that lasts right through till March. Why not join us to try us out for a few months at this discounted rate?
We are having lots of meetings on Zoom, but small groups are meeting up, as long as the Corona Virus rules allow us to. The walking group and the book group are meeting regularly. There is a craft group and we are about to try some new groups, gardening, games, coffee mornings etc. We would love to hear any suggestions!
We have a walking group that meet once a month. We are a small friendly group and our dogs join in the fun! We try to fit in a coffee stop too! Everyone is very welcome to join us!
Due to current circumstances we have had to postpone our walks, but we are looking forward to starting up again. Please contact Fiona for information.
Sharon’s mercy mission to India, January 2020
Sharon is an inspiration to us again! She travelled to India in January as part of the ‘Healing Little Hearts’ charity along with other doctors and nurses from the hospital. They performed life-saving heart surgery on children there, who without the surgery would not have survived.
She carried with her bags containing items to aid the childrens’ recovery, and Frodsham WI supported the scheme by decorating the bags. Each bag contained a blanket, toys, crayons and colouring books, a water cup and medication to help the child’s family nurse them once the team had departed.
Sharon said : ‘these families have nothing. They are desperate. We give them a blanket and cup because there is no provision for the families in the hospital, so they have to sleep outside in the grounds while their child is recovering. We also need to provide the medicine and some training to support their child after they return home to their village. The children are thrilled to receive the toys and crayons because they have so little in their lives.’ WI members decorated the bags with a motif of a broken heart, which had been sewn back together with buttons to mend it. The bags also had a wooden heart attached for the child’s name. Frodsham WI also raised £466 for Sharon to buy the items needed for the bags.
Sharon and the other doctors and nurses use their holiday leave allocation to go on the trip.
Well done to you all!
